Deciding on the X60...
Having wanted a table since I first saw one a few years ago, they have just dipped into my rice range. Discounting the HP tx1000 due to its battery life, I next considered the Toshiba and then the Fujitsu.
However, should they be able to deliver, I've opted finally for Lenovo, but the extra US$200 fir the X61 coupled with delivery issues and reduced battery time has led me to the X60
Intel® Core™ Duo L2400 LV (1.67GHz, 2MB L2, 667MHz FSB)[1]
Genuine Windows Vista Business[12]
12.1" MultiView + MultiTouch TN XGA TFT
512 MB PC2-5300 SDRAM DDR2 667MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)[8]
80GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm Serial ATA (2.5")[4]
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG[10]
ThinkPad X60 Tablet 8 Cell Li-Ion Battery
Wireless cards[10] Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
I'll pop in 1 or 2GBs of extra RAM and when its properly available, an N wi-fi card.
I do still fret over the X61 though... It would have to be delivered within 4 weeks - which is possible, but not definite given Lenovos reputation (the X60 is being delivered in 2 weeks) The extra performance though slightly less battery life
The X60 is a nice price
Now I have to consider second batteries - probably not as have the 8 cell, but then the 4 cell is a bit lighter for short trips...
Screen protector - this confuses me
Where can I get one for the X60, I've found then for Fujitsu...
A Thinkpad sleeve to carry it around in - and do I need a second pen???
I'm going to be transporting this tablet a lot by bicycle, foot and public transport, hence the need of battery power and lightness. I'll get an external optical drive for home and upload anything I need like game CDs, music or movies onto the HD - and keep most of it on an external HD too.
Soon I'll be a tablet user and hopefully share knowledge and not have any problems...
IAN

Here's two that I found, in regards to the screen protector for the X60:
- ClearTouch Crystal
- ClearTouch Anti-Glare

Re: Deciding on the X60...
Thank you!
How long does a screen protector last? $39 for just one!

Re: Deciding on the X60...
Ian,
It really depends on
1. The quality of the protector.
2. Just how much you look after the protector.
I've had the same protector on one of my T4210's now for a year.
I regularly do maintenance on the machine including taking the SP off, give it a clean and put it back again.... It still looks as good as the day I first applied it.
The same can be said for the SP I have on my PPC... It has so far lasted me 3yrs.

Re: Deciding on the X60...
Thanks P8RSON!
Hope I've got the right battery option. Maybe I should also buy a 4 cell battery? Option to travel light on occasion or have back up...
I don't go shopping very often because I spend too much time thinking...
And I'm still stressing over the X61! But if they can't deliver on time...
