help me decide IPad 3, Asus transformer Prime or other

Hey all,

i've been saving money for a while and I finally have enough to buy myself a nice tablet. But now the problem of not having the right funds is gone I have a new problem. Which one should I buy ? I bought an IPad 2 for my girlfriend and yea it made me want one too (but the 3rd gen). A friend of me has one from acer with a keyboard dock which is also nice in my opinion but I would choose the prime over one of acer.(New tegra 3 chip)

I will use the tablet most of the time to browse the internet; play games; e-mail; watching movies etc.

Also I think there are alot more and better apps for the IPad but is this true?

Which one would you recommend? and please tell me why?

If someone knows better one or other good tablet thats welcome too.

There's nothing wrong with buying another iPad as you can share files and swap stuff with another iPad easily. With some apps, you can also do interactive things with her and her iPad. We've had students playing live at gigs using their iPads linked interactively via wifi this year. I personally believe software uses like this will grow in the future.

Re the number of Apps, yes there are a lot more that exist for iPad at present than for the Google Android store (rebranded as the Google Play Store I believe) - it comes to personal choice whether you wish to use Apple's hermetically sealed environment or the more open Android environment. Both markets have their pluses and minuses.

My input would be to use both for a while where you can get a demo. The Android devices are all 16:9 aspect ratio while the iPad is 4:3 which makes a big difference in portrait mode for reading books, magazines, web browsing, and even email.

I am a big user of the TabletPC and am through with the 16:9 format to NEVER return again!

I have both an iPad and an Android tablet, and I find myself using Apple's device about 95% of the time. It's simply more polished. Doing things is just a bit easier.

The difference isn't huge. I think if I'd never used the iPad I'd be quite happy with the Android tablet. But because I have, the Android model sits on the shelf a lot.

The situation is about the same for third-party software. There are loads of apps for both platforms, but I find the ones for the iOS to be better made.

p.s. If what appeals to you is the Transformer's keyboard, you could consider something like Logitech's keyboard case. I have one, and like it very much.

if you can wait a few months, the next generation of androids will come out with specs much better than ipad3.
