Re: Digital artist searching for a fancy sketchbook
I am too looking for a tablet. Though I already own the EP121 and love it. Thinking of selling it and buying the Samsung Series 7. I am a digital artist and some of my work was done with EP121 Digital Painting Eyes Photoshop Tutorial - YouTube
I suggest you look at EP121 and Samsung if you want to be more productive as a digital artist.

Re: Digital artist searching for a fancy sketchbook
I took a look at the Samsung Series 7 at the Microsoft store this weekend, and woohoo it was beautiful!! The floor models had slight screen lift. However, if that's what is considered screen lift, I am a-okay with it.
I took some time to handle it in the store... I didn't put it through any more stress that I would under normal use (with my arm laying across the back). I notice that I don't want to one-hand the tablet, or hold it upright like a kindle/ipad. Perhaps this will cut down on stress to the unit.
However it may be--the Series 7 seems sturdy enough for my purposes. I'm buying the Sammy. It's sleek. It's fast. I don't need to see other tablets, this one just *fits* for me. The screen ratio will mean lots of space to dock my palettes when I sketch. I am going to purchase the tablet through the Microsoft Store, and pick up an extended warranty while I'm at it. This tablet's too important to take chances with the screen (if mine has any issues/gets worse/do bad).
Thank you everyone for your feedback!Last edited by Lilawyn; 04-10-2012 at 02:37 AM.

Re: Digital artist searching for a fancy sketchbook
I'm an S7S owner and so far (after 3 months) I've seen no screen lift at all, so I still wonder -- How severe a problem is it? Like you, I bought this as a digital sketchbook. This is a product category I waited for for 10+ years, and it's working superbly so far, so if a corner peeled a little I'd have no problem putting duct tape over it. Not buying it would be like if they had just invented cars, and I said "no thanks, I'll keep taking the train, because I heard about a windshield-lift issue where flies keep getting into the car". (Unless...Does the problem eventually get really severe, like the glass is almost falling off?)
I have a suspicion, though not sure, that folks like us waiting for a dream art device are more tolerant, whereas those who are looking for a full laptop replacement may be more picky because they have other options(?).
