Default Which Tablet Should I Buy?

    Hi all,

I would be very grateful if you help me deciding which table to buy.

I have bought the Transformer Prime 2 days ago.
I liked it but the Wi-Fi is not working properly so I'm going to return it.

    Many thanks to all.

    Here you have my form:

    General Questions.

    1. What is your budget? 600 € more or less 800 $

    2. Would you consider purchasing used/refurbished? No

    3. Do you prefer a Slate, Convertible or Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC)? Slate or Convertible

    4. What size Tablet PC would you prefer? 10 or 8.9
    Small and light ~ 5" to 8.9"
    Compact ~ 10"
    Mainstream ~ 12.1"
    Large ~ 13.3"

    5. Which country do you intent to purchase from? Spain or anywhere possible

    6. Do you have any preferences to brand loyalty or dislikes? We have Samsung mobiles and we are very happy. Preferably don't want an Ipad

    7. How many hours battery life do you require? More than 6

    8. What will be the primary usage scenario of this tablet? (Email/Web Surfing/Drawing/Word Processing/Entertainment/Notetaking etc) Email, Web surfing and entertaiment

    9. Do you have an OS preference? Android ICS

    10. What software and tasks do you intend to run? (Microsoft Office or other Word Processing Suite/Photoshop/3D Studio Max/Autocad etc) Don't need any specific software

    10. Do you intend on playing Games? If so please list. Yes but only light games. For heavy games I've got the Xbox

    Screen Specifics

    1. What resolution do you prefer? Don't know,... the best
XGA - 1024x768 ~ large and easy to read text and graphic icons but you fit less on the screen.
SXGA - 1400x1050 ~ Small text and graphic icons which require good vision but the gain is a much larger screen. (no longer available new, must look for used or refurbished machines)
WXGA - 1280x768 ~ has a wider usable area than XGA, ideal for viewing Spreadsheets and other programs that require desktop space. The mainly used resolution for new tablet PCs since 2008.

    2. Do you require the screen to be readable in sunlight? No, the tablet will be used in 97% at home / inside

    3. Do you prefer your display to be glossy or matte? Don't have a preference

    4. Do you require Touch? (without pressure sensitivity) (Which one: resistive or capacitive) Capacitive
See the above linked FAQ for guidance

    5. Do you require a Pen? (with pressure sensitivity) (Which one: Wacom or N-Trig) No
See the above linked FAQ for guidance

    Component Specifics

    1. What size Hard Drive and Memory do you require?

    2. Do you require an Optical (CD/DVD) Drive to be built in? No

    3. Do you require ability to add a second Battery or Hard Drive (Modular Bay technology)? No

    Misc
    1. Other non specific items ~ please add other items you require not covered above? I would prefer if the tablet has usb, hdmi, card slot...but is not really important

    2. Additional requests ~ anything other you wish to take into consideration? I considering the possibility to wait for new tablets to be released in 2012

Default Re: Help To Decide the Tablet to Buy

Sounds to me like the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is probably right for you. I have one and it's been great.

    Here's a review:

If you like the idea of a convertible, you should consider this keyboard case for it:

The only caveat is that this tablet came out last spring/summer. A newer version is likely to be along in a few months.
