Aspect ratio is the ratio of horizontal to vertical screen size; so a 16:9 screen is wider and shorter than a 16:10, which is in turn wider and shorter than a 4:3 [16:12] screen; what this means for Tablet PC's specifically is that a 16:9 screen may be wider than a 16:10 counterpart with the same screen size, that it will have a noticeable loss in vertical screen space (which means in landscape mode you have lost 32 pixels and .3-.73" in screen width over a 16:10 screen -when comparing a 12.5" and 11.6" 16:9 screen to a 12.1" 16:10 respectively... In the end it comes down to what you will primarily be doing on the machine, but a significant loss in vertical space (in landscape) and horizontal space (in portrait) is not beneficial to most anything (on the user end of it anyways; for manufacturers it is great because they can cheap out on the manufacturing process by making two small screen pieces and fusing them together to form a larger screen that can then be sold for a higher profit margin to consumers)
Unless you have the extreme need for the app by app snap to work without a work-around, or want the 16:9 screen to watch 16:9 movies all the time on, then it is hurting, not helping, your ability to fully use the machine.
For the facts on current machines with touch:
11.6" 16:9 - 10.11"x5.68" -- Series 7 slate
12.5" 16:9 - 10.9"x6.12" -- X220t
12.1" 16:10 - 10.26"x6.41" -- most everything else
13.3" 16:10 - 11.28"x7.05" -- Fujitsu T5010, T900, T901
10.4" 4:3 - 8.31"x6.25" -- Motion C5v/ F5v
I would recommend you take a few sheets of paper and cut out those sizes and compare them in hand side by side to see what you thin of the difference.Current: HP 2730p Win 7 & Linux Mint | Toshiba M4 | Motion M1400 renice 120GB SSD | ITRONIX IX-325 | Motion F5 (U7500 update) | Fujitsu P1620 | T4220 w/SXGA+ 160GB Intel X18-M & 1TB HDD in bay | broken TC4400 [for experimentation] | i5 3570K mITX desktop w/GTX460 | ASUS N10j
Gone but not Forgotten: HP Tm2 | HP Slate 500 | HP touchpad 32GB | 6-core desktop

wow didn't realize the 16.9 you lose some screen estate! so 16:10 is the superior ratio when it comes to workspace eh? that is some good info agent 9 i appreicate it as I shop around for my future win8 tablet! many thanks!

Hey, would the Fujitsu T580 be a good choice for the OP?
