Tablet for a Uni student (Questionnaire filled)

I'll start out by saying I am new to Tablets and don't know much about them, so bear with me.
I'm starting Uni soon, and thought it would be easier to get a cheaper tablet for note taking and such, before transferring everything onto my PC and doing assignments and what not there

General Questions.

1. What is your budget?
- I'm not sure of average prices, but Cheaper the better

2. Would you consider purchasing used/refurbished?
- I'm open to the idea

3. Do you prefer a Slate, Convertible or Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC)?
- Preferably Slate or Convertable

4. What size Tablet PC would you prefer?
- Any size

5. Which country do you intent to purchase from?
- I live in Australia, although I may purchase online

6. Do you have any preferences to brand loyalty or dislikes?
- No

7. How many hours battery life do you require?
- Around 5 would be ideal

8. What will be the primary usage scenario of this tablet? (Email/Web Surfing/Drawing/Word Processing/Entertainment/Notetaking etc)
- Note taking in class, minor research online and Email

9. Do you have an OS preference?
- My phone is Android and my PC is Windows 7, so I'm used to those

10. What software and tasks do you intend to run? (Microsoft Office or other Word Processing Suite/Photoshop/3D Studio Max/Autocad etc)
- Something for word processing, and anything else that might help with Uni

10. Do you intend on playing Games? If so please list.
- It's not a priority

1. What resolution do you prefer?
- I don't have great eyesight, so probably XGA or WXGA

2. Do you require the screen to be readable in sunlight?
- Not really

3. Do you prefer your display to be glossy or matte?
- Probably matte

4. Do you require Touch? (without pressure sensitivity) (Which one: resistive or capacitive)
- Yes, Capacitive

5. Do you require a Pen? (with pressure sensitivity) (Which one: Wacom or N-Trig)
- Not required


Component Specifics

1. What size Hard Drive and Memory do you require?
- Nothing huge. I will take most things home and copy them onto my PC

2. Do you require an Optical (CD/DVD) Drive to be built in?
- No

3. Do you require ability to add a second Battery or Hard Drive (Modular Bay technology)?
- Not really

Misc
1. Other non specific items ~ please add other items you require not covered above?
- I'm not sure if its standard or not, but easy to transfer files onto my PC

2. Additional requests ~ anything other you wish to take into consideration?

Does your Android phone take notes or have a note-taking facility?

Just wondering whether the tech you have now would do the job. Have you heard of "Evernote?"

The phone is too small for what I'd be needing it for, although maybe I'm just being picky?

I think you have not really understood the concept of a Tablet PC as a note taking device.
Do you intend to draw your notes with fingers?
