Fujitsu T5010 tablet Vs HP Tm2

Hi Guys,

Need all your expert remarks.
I was having trouble choosing between these 2 Laptop.
i need a battery more for sketching and 3d modeling ( 3ds Max)
but im not sure whether tm2 can support those 3d modeling application.

Reason why i choose these 2 tablet pc is because both of them have the wacom digitizer pen built in.

For 3-D rendering I'd stick with the TM2, Just so long as you configure it with the discrete ATI graphics card.

Zbrush (if memory serves) isn't dependent on a discrete graphics, but 3-D Studio Max and other 3D software would benefit greatly, and the TM2 is the only current Tablet PC with a discrete graphics option.

While the TM2's core I3 and I5 are low voltage cores compared to the Fujitsu, its already going to have the 4+ hour battery life and the ATI graphics option will more then compensate.


Just make sure its configured with the ATI graphics....some models don't have them.

There are lots more tablets with Wacom built in, if that is your main criterion, but like darkmagistric said, the TM2 is the only one with discrete graphics and would be better for the 3D-stuff. If you do go with Fujitsu, make sure you get the outdoor screen (it comes in two versions, with indoor or with outdoor screen), as you said it would be nice to have a sunlight-readable one. The TM2's screen is not much good for outside.

Seems lke tm2 is better for 3d rendering, but the tm2 in my country (singapore) come with a 2gd ram.

Do i need to increase the ram to 4gd for those 3d rendering usage?

I can't comment about which would suit your needs better, but I draw your attention to:

1) Phenomenal sale on fully equipped TM2 (hurry, these go away as quickly as they arrive): $700 with EVERYTHING - Deal of the Day: Save up to $400 on a HP TouchSmart tm2t Tablet PC

2) You can get a refurbished Fujitsu T730/T900 (12.1/13.3" screens, latter being size of the 5010) for not much more - at around $1,000 with sufficient RAM - than a used/refurbished 5010, but the cpu on the 730/900 is Core i5/7 vs. Core 2 Duo on the 5010. Head to the eBay Fujitsu store and bid on a refurbished one (they have 5010s too, but less often and, again, about the same price. (If you are interested in the T-730 and can't find one with your specs, I have one of two I can probably sell to you. Not hawking here - just offering. Won't have the "outdoor" T-730 back until around Friday; I would also sell the Core i7 one in my sig., below, but it has the regular screen, not outdoor, though it is still a very bright, matte screen and has worlds better viewing angles than any TM2. Not sure of this, but I think the Core i7 with Intel GMA HD (what all but the TM2 use for graphics) has better 3D performance, because the Intel HD graphics overclock at the higher rate (3.33 ghz) of the cpu, vs. 2.93 with the Core i5 and graphics performance less than 50% in a previous gen. 5010; still not discrete 3d GPU, but best of the integrated GPUs. PM me if you are interested or just want pointers.)

No, it just sounds like boxiez only has the two options they listed.
Does that HP TM2t have the ATI HD5450?
If not I don't believe it's even worth considering.
If it does have it then the choice really comes down to this:
They will both run Photoshop very nicely.
I believe the T5010 will run Zbrush better since (to my understanding) it uses primarily the CPU to render. However, 3ds Max will probably run pretty poorly on the T5010.
The TM2t should run 3ds Max fairly well (as long as it has the HD5450) but it'll likely be quite weak in Zbrush.

So which is more important to you Zbrush (T5010) or 3ds Max (TM2t with HD5450)?

My suggestion is to go with the T5010 as long as it's in good condition because I think it's a better value for your money (costing $250 less).
I think the TM2t would be a good choice for you if there was a way you could get the Core i5 version with the ATI HD5450. I don't know if the i5 model is even available to you or if it's outrageously priced but the Core i3-UM will have a much harder time with heavy processing than the i5-UM.
