capactive + active digitizer (looking for second hand)
I want to buy second hand Convertible
would like to try capacitive + active digitizer,
not bother much about digitizer type, as long as its pressure sensitive I am happy. dont have software requirement
this is my first tablet its mainly for surfing, playing solitaire and other light games. no fancy gfx needed
I live in UK, Dell XT seems the cheapest choice for what I want it for
however was wondering if its worh paying double the price for XT2 or HP TM2 (if yes then which) or if its worth looking at lenovo models
battery around 2 hours or more.
dont care about sunlight performance.
would prefer it without optical drive so its lighter.

Re: capactive + active digitizer (looking for second hand)
What do you want pressure sensitivity for?
If it's Photoshop then the n-trig digitizer doesn't support pressure sensitivity with that application (so counts out the XT, XT2 and HP TX2).
Personally don't reckon worth paying double price of XT to get XT2; there's not that much difference (check the reviews).
http://www.sterlingxs.co.uk/ used to sell Dell Outlet Latitude XTs for £550ish (effectively brand new) so might be worth giving them a call.
You might be able to pick-up an Dell XT or HP TX2 second-hand; however the TM2 and multitouch Lenovo (+ Fujitsu and Toshiba) are too new.
Have you consider the Fujitsu 4310? That's a similar price to the TM2 new; only Intel IGP graphics but more powerful CPU.

Re: capactive + active digitizer (looking for second hand)
thanks adam for your input, I am aware of n-trig not compatible with many apps. pressure sensitive is needed for hand writing to look good only(unlike resistive touch)
I have no preference on speed, as this is only gonna be used for pictures viewing, and internet surfing.
my main requirement is to have active digitizer, and multi-touch capacitive inputs
found couple of xt's from 390 - 500
http://www.itcsales.co.uk/acatalog/d...s_Laptops.html
however the company reputation is very bad thats why I am not ordering off them.
the Fujitsu T4310 looks more interesting than the tm2 because I am not going to run games or graphics on it. however hp seems lighter as it does not have optical drive.
still I can find the T4310 anywhere
what are models from Lenovo or Toshiba that have capacitive and digitizer inputLast edited by razor1911; 04-22-2010 at 05:32 PM.

Re: capactive + active digitizer (looking for second hand)
Lenovo X200T (but need to check it's the latest model with proper capacitive multitouch; Lenovo confusingly used the phrase 'multitouch' to describe pen + single touch input before capacitive (2 fingers +) was introduced!)
Lenovo X201T (optional multitouch)
Fujitsu T4310, T4410, T5010 (latest model; optional multitouch), T900
HP TX2 (n-trig capacitive)
[Toshiba M780 now believed not to be multiouch]Last edited by adam.mt; 04-23-2010 at 03:53 AM. Reason: update to M780 specs

Re: capactive + active digitizer (looking for second hand)
ok this is what I want in order:
1- build quality
2- weight
3- heat output
4- battery life
5- speed
6- viewing angles
although price is a big factor but I will drop the tx2 because its build quality, noise, and heat issues.
my options are:
Dell Xt, Xt2
toshiba m750
hp TM2
Fujitsu
Lenovo
I can get xt2, tm2, m750 for the same price, but I am not sure how does the toshiba fare among thoseLast edited by razor1911; 04-23-2010 at 05:01 AM.

Re: capactive + active digitizer (looking for second hand)
The Toshiba's very good, and is what I've got, it's not multitouch though; guess that's it's only real drawback (in my opinion).
If you definitely need multi-touch then buy the TM2 or Fujitsu T4310 (shouldn't be much dearer?). Check the reviews of each for comparison.
If multitouch isn't a factor then there's more options, particularly if you will buy secondhand or refurbished; eg. Toshiba M700/M750, X200T* (all 3 are optional 'single-touch') or T5010* (pen only). [* - considering the older models]
You could even consider the older Lenovo X60 range as a good second-hand buy.
The pros of the Toshibas and T5010 are best CPUs, solid contruction, reasonable battery life, good viewing angles etc (T5010 probably has slightly better screen - brighter). Both also have inbuilt optical drives.
TM2 - is probably the most compact and best value for money; not as well built but very nice design (metal unibody); good battery life.
To be honest if buying now from new I'd go for either the TM2 or T4310 (better graphics and design vs better cpu and screen). There's just so many variables depending on what you need! Checking those two out first though would be my advice.Last edited by adam.mt; 04-23-2010 at 08:34 AM.

Re: capactive + active digitizer (looking for second hand)
the T4310 seems like a good option, however I cannot find it for the same price as the tm2.
can you post where to buy it at that price

Re: capactive + active digitizer (looking for second hand)
Looks like it's gone up in price!
Can order from US for around £830, and kinda sure it used to sell here for that sort of price. Now looking it seems over £1100 so not such a good buy, sorry.

You may find the following interesting if you're not in a rush:

Of course, until it's released no idea whether it's really much good.

Re: capactive + active digitizer (looking for second hand)
the acer one looks flashy, but no buttons on the LCD, and no active digitizer.
to me it does not look the most promising convertible at the price
the Toshiba m750 is resistive touch, however I can get the toshiba for 500 (100 pounds more than XT, but still bit cheaper than xt2, and tm2)Last edited by razor1911; 04-24-2010 at 07:03 AM.
