Default Tablet with the least amount of parallax?

I have been looking at getting a tablet pc for about a year now and I thought the Gateway C-142XL would be a good fit for the price, but I have read about so many problems with the degree of parallax that I don't think I will go that route anymore.

I know that there will always be a certain amount of parallax in all Tablet PCs, but can anyone recommend a good tablet pc with a low amount of parallax?

I will be using it mostly for Illustrator and Photoshop and I am very flexible when it comes to specs and price. Thanks!

Forgive my ignorance, what is this parallax? I'm familiar with parallax in relation to rifles and scopes, but not tablets.

Hi sarguy, the the best way I can describe parallax was written by someone on the gottabemobile forum by the name of flecrone, here is what they wrote:

"In the Tablet PC world, "parallax" is used to refer to the apparent distance between the pen tip and the mouse pointer. This distance differs depending on your viewing angle. If you calibrate the pen while looking at the screen straight on, the mouse pointer will appear directly under the pen tip. But if you shift your viewing angle to the side, there appears to be a gap between the tip and pointer. Touch screens with passive digitizers may have almost no parallax, while tablets with active digitizes and a sturdy glass cover over the screen may have a rather large amount of parallax. Users usually get used to the parallax quickly, and watch the mouse pointer rather than the pen tip as they work."

So basically it will look like the cursor on the screen is always drifting several points behind the pen tip while you are writing or drawing. I've heard this can be very distracting. There was a lot of discussion about the newest Gateway tablets having really bad problem with this.

Maybe the Dell XT has almost no "parallax", because it's digitizer is in front of the display, but I don't know it.

With parallax you ment, that the cursor is always a bit off the pen tip, which can be corrected by a good calibration.
But in the last sentences you talked about "the cursor on the screen is always drifting several points behind the pen tip while you are writing or drawing." Well, that has nothing to do with "parallax", that's a common windows problem and no solution is available. Except you want to loose your calibration and other pen features, then just kill the process wisptis.exe, which is a bit tricky, and you don't have any lag any more.

But to be honest, you can over-do it, just try a tablet and use it and you will notice how well eveything works.
