Tecra m4 or r15
I planned on ordering the R15 this week, i was waiting for ya'lls review. However with the news of this new laptop im starting to reconsider. This laptop seems to good for 1999. I have the money to order it, but is it worth taking the risk of ordering a new unreviewed laptop and getting a better machine. The r15 seems good everywhere and the M4 seems to good. So do i order the M4 and take the risk or just order the R15 and know what im getting.
Thanks

Kevin,
Our R15 review will be up shortly. I will tell you straight out though, the M4 is going to be a much faster, more advanced machine. Not only does it incorportate a Sonoma-based Pentium M, but it also has dedicated video memory. The R15 is perfect for the price, but if you have the "means" I would go for the M4.

I agree that the M4 is a great machine, but if you don't need the dedicated video, I'd be inclined to go with the R15 and save your money. As good as the M200 was, it's hard to imagine they blew the M4.

Re: Tecra m4 or r15
so is that the only thing that is better in the M4? I had a choice between the r15 and M4 and went with the r15. it looks like a much better deal. Of ocurse I upgraded to 1.5gb ram and got a screen and keyboard protector. I think the r15 is better except for the video part. but then again if I wanted to game on a laptop I could get a laptop. I got a convertible to study. I think toshiba should have put a scroll point on the r15.
But are there any differences besides that?

The R15 has the 855GME chipset rather than the newer Intel 900, BUT you'll enjoy the better battery savings that the 855 chipset offers. If your going to study rather than play games, you made a fine choice.

Re: Tecra m4 or r15
right. and you can't game on a tablet so if you want a laptop for gaming get a laptop. Get the r15 because it is better for study. (and it plays halo fine for me)
