WARNING, Toshiba M750 owners: HDD UltraSlim Bay
This is a warn to all M750 owners who plan to byu HDD UltraSlim bay.
DO NOT buy it.
It won't fit into your M750 bay.
Why? Simple. Toshiba has SMARTLY (
) decided to change external attachment in m750.
You can easily see extracting your CD drive that now it connects using standard SATA plugs and not using "sort of" IDE.
I'll post soon picture of both CD Unit and HDD Bay to make it clear.
I supposed it was compatible, i had to check better before buying. This is a shame, but my fault either. €40 wasted.

Oh, that sucks. I'm sorry to hear about that and I'm looking forward to the pics to see exactly what you're talking about.
Do you think you'd be able to mod it so that it might work? When you post pics could you post one of your DVD drive and the adapter next to each other (both top and back views)?

Re: WARNING, Toshiba M750 owners: HDD UltraSlim Bay
Thanks for the warning!
I admit I was slightly confused before when it was said the M700 slim bay adaptor would fit the M750, and yet I'd read in the manual that M700 parts weren't compatible with the bay. I assumed Toshiba was wrong (wouldn't be the first) but seems that actually they were right!

Re: WARNING, Toshiba M750 owners: HDD UltraSlim Bay
It's actually a good thing that the M750 uses standard SATA instead of whatever the M700 was using. You just need an extension if it's not long enough to connect another HDD. Magically mod the weight saver to fit the HDD and presto, no need for a HDD slim bay.
Toshiba Portégé M700: T9300 2.5Ghz 6MB L2 800Mhz FSB; WD Scorpio 320GB 5400RPM (BEVT) HDD; 2x2GB A-Data PC5300; Bluetooth enabled; Spare pen; Dual digitizers; Win 7 x86. "I give hope to Men, and I keep none for myself."

Re: WARNING, Toshiba M750 owners: HDD UltraSlim Bay
Yes, unfortunately:
1) M750 is not shipped with weightsaver.
2) M700 Weightsaver does not work on m750. The "Rail" on the left does not fit at all.
3) I would spend $30 for a HDD SlimBay which works as weightsaver either (you can always use it without HD). Not that expensive.

Re: WARNING, Toshiba M750 owners: HDD UltraSlim Bay
So what is the solution then, for M750 owners who want to use a secondary internal HD??
Edited to Add: Okay, if the SlimBay's have different specs, can we note the both of them here, for clarity of all??Last edited by SuperFlyBoy; 04-18-2009 at 08:27 AM.

Re: WARNING, Toshiba M750 owners: HDD UltraSlim Bay
Then wondering what we do if we want to migrate to a M750, with our current HDD bay?
I guess, since the new (M750) bay has the SATA connector, we would have to locate a part number for the HDD bay - does Toshiba even make one?
Btw, ToshibaDirect (ToshibaUSA site) is *not* showing any secondary HDD option, *nor* any proper docking station!
Do we have to go with a USB-only option now, if we upgrade to a M750??!
