    yes you can disable the touch screen and still use the pen. I custom ordered mine with the touch panel as I wanted it, but I leave it disabled 90% of the time as I tend to pick the pen up to high when writing in class and got tired of the marks.

    You don't need to uninstall anything. You can toggle it on and off with an option. I do not know if there is any way to disable the pen, but why would you want to =).

    I've had a couple people ask about how you disable the touch panel in the M700 so here it is.

    control panel - mobile pc - pen and input devices - touch

    there is a little check box there and all you have to do is check or uncheck it.

    hope that helps everyone.

    I do not have any such option in the control panel

    I called them up. Their tech support isnt that good. They told me there was no way to do that.

    However, I found disabling the touch screen easy enough.

    Start>Run>Services.msc

    Find the service "wacom touch service". Stop it. When you are done, start it again.

    Enjoy

    Hmm interesting. What version of windows do you have? I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate and that is how I did it.

    I too have vista Ultimate and found the setting for touch. I do not have it on my HP TX1000 (for sale by the way) that has Home Premium.

    I wonder if anyone has figured out a button configuration or other method of quickly toggling touch off and on? almost have the software and such where I like it and can start "tweaking" this afternoon.

    I've been playing with this based on some of the comments, and I found a workaround for WindowsXP...

    first, you have to run services.msc (or access services through administrative tools) and set Wacom Touch Service to manual start...for some reason, if it starts automatically and I stop it, I can't restart it. If I manually start it, then stop it, I can restart it...weird.

    anyways, once it's set to manual start, copy this code and save it as "touch.vbs" or whatever:

    Dim Service
    Dim svcState

    Set ServiceSet = GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonat e}!//localhost").ExecQuery("select * from Win32_Service")

    For each Service in ServiceSet
    if Service.Name = "WacomTouchService" then
    if Service.State = "Running" then
    Service.StopService()
    else
    Service.StartService()
    end if
    end if
    Next

    now when you double-click on "touch.vbs", it checks to see if the wacomtouchservice is running...if it is, it stops it. if it isn't, it starts it. This should allow you to start or stop the service at your discretion.

    i'm using it now on my WinXP install, and it works fine (so far)...please let me know if it works for anyone else.
