It seems like people are starting to get their X200 Tablet orders. Can you provide some general comments on the quality of the screens? I am particularly interested in the 285 nit superbright LED screen option. Is it grainy at all? How is the brightness, contrast, and color?

If you are familiar with other tablet pc's how does it compare with them? I have seen an X61 Tablet with the SXGA+ screen. I thought it was pretty good and would like to know if the X200's screen is better or worse.

Thanks Drtigerlilly and yeah-yeah. I did read and watch those reviews. It looks like Warner gave a slight edge to the screens on both the 2730p and Latitude XT over the X200's. But it turns out that his review unit came with the standard CCFL screen and not the Superbright LED screen.

I would like to get some feedback on the Superbright LED screen (non-Multitouch). One of my biggest concerns is the grainy/hazy nature of many tablet pc screens that I have seen. Viewing angles for tablets are usually quite good compared to conventional laptop screens, but the haziness caused by the protective layer on some tablet pc's can be pretty distracting.

Apparently there has been a wave of X200 Tablet shipments in the past few days. Are there any new owners willing to comment on the quality of the screens? Are the screens grainy and if so, is it enough to be distracting?

The screen is fantastic (I have the 285 Nit LED Frameless). It has great color, ridiculously large viewing angles, and is useable even in direct sunlight (although you do have to crank the brightness). There is a minute amount of grain, but it is very minor, easily ignored, and I only see it when I am looking directly at it with certain light sources. I have never seen a laptop screen that is even close to this good (the only thing that compares is an IPS Apple Cinema dispaly). I posted some pictures of the x200 tablet on my Flickr account.

I also have the LED frame less display. Right out of the box I put an anti glare screen protector on it. It still looks great doesn't look grainy to me unless I almost touch my nose to the screen. I love it, it looks great.

question to the owners, does the regular magazine sized 8"x10.5" pages displayed in full screen fit the screen or is there black bars to the sides or the top and bottom?

I would say that depends on the application you use and how you display it. The screen on the x200 Tablet is 16x10, so you could probably read it back fullscreen with 2 pages dislayed and a very small border on the sides (16x11 pillarboxed), or you could view it a single sheet in portrait, in which case there will be substantial borders at the top and bottom 1.3125:1 vs. 1.6:1. If you have a particular magazine/application you want me to test I will.
