The new X1 Yoga 5th gen is available to order, see this link.

It looks like a minor spec update from the 4th gen model, see here. There are now 10th gen Intel CPUs and Wifi6. Still only Intel UHD graphics. Warning, they still sell some of these with 300 nits brightness, which is pretty dim. 400nits lower resolution and 500nits high resolution models are available though.

This machine is the new all-metal casing version which was well received on the 4th gen. Note that the 4th gen is now also offered with 10th gen Intel CPUs, so unless you must have Wifi6, the gen4 model is probably a much better deal.

Since this model is virtually identical to the 4th gen, let me reiterate the differences with the 3rd gen model:

    Things that improved:
    - smaller side bezels, smaller footprint
    - aluminum casing probably won't be losing paint like the old black models
    - air blows out the sides this time rather than into your lap on the 3rd gen
    - you can now have a Windows Hello IR camera AND the thinkshutter for privacy
    - new combo docking port including a TB3 port

    Things that didn't improve:
    - still 16:9 with large lower bezel
    - still quite a bit heavier than the 2.5lbs X1 Carbon at >3lbs
    - still no volume rocker
    - still can't be opened one-handed

    Things that got worse:
    - the keys no longer lock in place in tablet mode
    - no more microSD card reader

FYI, 4th gen models now ship with Intel 10th gen chips, so it appears only an upgrade to wifi6 distinguishes the 5th from 4th, unless I'm missing something. Strange to call it "5th gen" with such a minor change, doesn't even qualify as a refresh.

Hey, if the result is a 45% discount on the 4th gen, by all means call it a new generation! :)

Some more discussion of the Lenovo product roadmap leak. It's not a Yoga, but the X1 Nano fixes some long standing gripes with the X1 line: smaller bezels, 16:10 aspect ratio, under 1kg, brightness of 450 nits. Let's see how many of these improvements make it into the next X1 Yoga.

    Holy sh*t guys, these deals seem to be actually decent! That $1400 4th gen model has a Core™ i5-10210U, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 14.0" UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS, 500 nits.

Same model on sale in Canada, but the discount is less, at 51% off, instead of 55% off in US.

Wow, this is hands-down the best value for any convertible at the high end of the spectrum. I'd expect to pay nearly $2,000 for this kind of configuration. Thanks, @JoeS for monitoring this.
