Developer focused, but Microsoft did this video yesterday:

    https://channel9.msdn.com/Events/Ch9Live/Windows-Community-Standup/Kevin-Gallo-January-2018

One thing of note is that the OS is ARM64, but store apps will only be compiled for ARM32 at launch.

Edit: Also, shocking to hear that Office will be x86 and running through emulation (in order to maintain addon and presumably VBA support). I guess that is another way of getting away from Windows / Office RT's stigma.

Edge is ARM32, but IE is x86.

    Thanks jhoff80

Speaker says : WOA is for a new category of PC that have mobility of a phone.
Me : if it is less than 8 inch, have hdmi and bluetooth connectivity, I should say yes. But none of the announced devices have these characteristics

Me: and add phone call capability and I will switch immediately..

They also specifically mention at one point that telephony is not included at this time.

I know. I am sure there are good reasons.
But what I will love a 7" Samsung Galaxy Book phone (spen in silo, hdmi).
It will become my only device (with also a power bank).

And I am ready to pay it the price of the most expensive IPhone.
It is already in my list, look at my signature.
What a revolution since my first tablet PC in 2010.

Well, given the extraordinarily swift development and release of WOA devices, I think we should rename this thread WOA WOES.......WHOA...

Why is there such a drought of WoA device announcements when MS targeted year end 2017 for the deluge...

<<...Why is there such a drought of WoA device announcements...>>

I can think of at least two reasons:
    1. Focus groups reacted to the products just as we did: too large, heavy and expensive for the performance that was offered. The OEMs have been forced to reconsider their product placement...
    2. The 845's (relatively) impressive performance has belatedly given the OEMs pause. They realize that consumers will regard products that don't use the 845 as "inferior," especially at the price point...

Dell has also said that they're skeptical based on Microsoft's track record of attempts and failures here.
