FYI - I am running Windows 7 Ultimate Build 7048 (previously running build 7000) and the performance and stability seems to be much better with this build. I can point to specifics, but it seems like quite a few more drivers loaded by default rather than requiring system update. Fingerprint reader works with the Lenovo driver and it did not with build 7000.

yes but outside of you being in the private beta this isn't a public build and we don't condone warez or the discussion of such on our site.

What a bizarre response. Who commented on wares or anything similar? This was for, perhaps, the benefit of those who plan on running Windows 7 once it's released. Or it would be beneficial to the many beta testers like myself who are considering moving from build 7000 to 7048.

I did not take your report as condoning piracy...just an update on the latest build. Thanks. You may want to consider posting these types of reports in the Win 7 section, however, as many hardware specific people may not troll all groups.

Is this the new release that was intended to be "RC 1?"

I am planning on picking up a copy of Win 7 Ultimate when released for my Fujitsu P1620. It sounds like it will be an interesting OS.

Supposedly it may be the RC1. I am going to comment on Drtigerlilly's post though.

Methods of obtaining this copy are very limited. With most windows 7 builds, the average user can only obtain them through warez methods. With that being the case, it usually brings up many questions regarding how to obtain it via warez.

EDIT: moved to windows 7 forum.

EDIT 2: confirmation, it is rc1 (link)

EDIT 3: This is odd, sites are saying build 7057 is the RC1.

Did you get the tablet shortcut menu to work? Mine shows up but nothing happens no matter what I click.
Other than that, I have nothing to complain about 7048.

sjxbrd, can you please clarify? Are you talking about the Tablet Input Panel (TIP)?

Win7 RC1 is supposed to be available at roughly the same time as Vista SP2.

The RC1 has been "leaked" already, build 7057.
