trouble using the AuthenTec login software that automatically installs and updates on Win 7:

when I put the laptop to sleep and close the lid, open it back up and boot the machine back to the login screen, the fingerprint reader doesn't work.

it does work, however, when the I hibernate and resume from hibernation.

if I put the machine to sleep and do not close the lid, the fingerprint reader works properly.

    anyone else experiencing this?

I have had no problems with sleep and the fingerprint reader not working.

With regard to the unknown device: I had something similar on the hp pavilion tx2560ed with 64 bits windows 7. The driver properties mentioned acpi/en0100, which led me to the ENE CIR receiver. I then installed hp's vista 64 bit driver (2.4.0.0 A) and the device was recognized and installed without trouble.

Of course your device may very well be something else so tread carefully and check the driver properties' details.

I have this issue with win7 on my 2510.

It also seems to work if the screensaver locks the machine.

^ I've found that in those times when it doesn't work...if I push Enter at the log-in screen (such that it tries to log me in with a blank password and fails)...THEN swipe my finger....it works.

unusual extra step, but for now, I can be content with having to do that on a rare occasion.
