Typical Microsoft. Honestly, they are their own worst enemies at times.

I have to use a Bluetooth GPS logger with my Surface 3, because Microsoft never bothers to put in a dedicated GPS chip in their Surface devices. It was working fine under Windows 8.1. Now it doesn't, since I've "upgraded" to Windows 10.

I confirmed for myself that this was a problem with my Qstarz GPS logger and three different PCs, all running Windows 10 (build 10240).

However, there could be some good news on the horizon...

I've just upgraded my Yoga 3 Pro to the latest Insider Preview build (10532), and the SPP problem seems to have been fixed. I'm able to connect my Qstarz GPS logger and get data.

I hope that this fix will be present in the October update to Windows 10 that will be available to everyone...

I hope we will have soon this update.

To give more info, this issue do not exist with Metro apps. For instance MapsPro is able to connect to my external GPS.

This is why I had a problem with an old (but trusty) Bluetooth printer.

I now run a virtual Windows 8.1 machine to do all my printing from said printer, I only use it once a week to print off invoices, so no real bother, plus I use a VM for work so it made no difference as to having to have VM image.

Might work for your GPS Devices?

I moved to insider preview, and the last one solved this issue, and others.
