OK - let's get this out of the way. A lot will depend on whether it is siloed or in an awkward strap on case. If the former, that looks like a good bet, depending on budgetary constraints. If not, then iPhone 13 still in contention.

If you sit by the river long enough ... :vbcool:

Actually, with the Note series going to cases for their SPens, the Duo has a shot with me too. There is no question in my mind that I will be going wtih a folding form factor eventually. It depends on how the Duo evolves. There is a lot they can do to improve the design if they set their minds to it.

And I wonder if an attached stylus isn't at the forefront of their priorities. Even Panay personally must be annoyed by the present situation.

I wouldn't believe any of those "Samsung note is dead" articles until Samsung confirmed it. The main cost of S-pen support is the Wacom panel under the screen and the engineering it took for screen accuracy, not the stylus. It makes no sense to implement it on the phone that not everyone will use that feature. S phone is cheaper than note phone like 100-150$ for a reason. And if they make S-pen support S phone as expensive as the note phone, non-stylus people will look for alternative.

My deepest fear is if they will use AES to cut cost. With the development of the fold, AES seem to be easier to implement, and if they decide to switch their entire line up, that would be another blow to the head for note phone users.

TBH, the AES pen in the HP8EN from a couple of years ago was great; far better than the MS pen tech then. and I'm sure there's been improvements in the technology.

I tried to alert him of the Woot deal of a 256GB model for $690, but TPCR decided to save him by being down for an hour. Lucky!
