Having used swiping keyboards in the Android world for years and being quite satisfied by the results I can't imagine why Microsoft doesn't have them available for all Windows 10 platforms, particularly tablets. It's been too many years to be in development so who knows the real scoop ? I'm imagining licensing constraints, copyright infringement or data collection inferiority compared with Cortana.

The newest Insider build brought a new keyboard to desktop W10, based on a combination of W10M's Wordflow and SwiftKey, which Microsoft bought. It included swipe typing / shape writing as long as it's in the one-handed mode.

Unfortunately you can't switch back, so you only have that sh.... mobile keyboard.

Based on today's build's changelog, that was a bug. After updating I have the full-sized one in addition to the new one-handed one. Only problem is they got rid of the 'standard' one which included the function and arrow keys, which was a very useful additional option to have.

@jhoff80 standard layout is activated by additional setting, maybe the update reset it?

Nope, that setting is gone now. The keyboard is apparently rebuilt so they didn't make the standard one.
