Why are new generation Wacom EMR pens so delicate?

Killed a second pen (my Staedtler Noris Digital Stylus) today, dropping it less than 3 feet onto a wooden floor --- previously I managed to kill my HP Zbook X2 stylus dropping it the same distance.

I can't recall having broken an EMR stylus ever before --- anyone else having similar issues?

Is anyone aware of a new generation EMR stylus which is symmetrical in shape and markedly more durable?

I have seen so many co workers break even the regular Cintiq 22HD pens this way too, It seems silly that such a small drop could wreck em so easy.

Sad to hear that, but glad it's not just me.

Found a replacement Staedtler Noris Digital Stylus --- the Chromebook unit on Amazon seems the lowest priced.

i had this with an old gen pen (bamboo graphics tablet pen)
dropped it, pen didnt work, eraser still did

    opened it up
there is a ceramic tube/cylinder in there that was broken
i simply swapped the ceramic tube on the pen end with the ceramic tube on the eraser and then the pen worked and eraser was broken

so might be worth a try

The newer pens have coil closer to the tip (to minimize cursor drift at extreme angles) which might be impacting the pressure assembly when dropped nose first. Also having coil closer to the nose will make the pen more nose heavy. Either way dropping it nose first will damage the pressure assembly old or new.
