Really fantastic slice of information there, thank you.

MS has made it clear that ARM based Win8 will not support current windows applications, and due to the features of ARM processors I assume the apps available in ARM version will be substantially less sophisticated than their x64 or x86 versions.

I agree 100% that the three parties have distinct interests and that delays the forward movement of technology, but I tend to think there is some sort of agreement among these parties, and the problem is they need to extract every penny from us customers, and they are acting together to achieve this goal.

If they want to sell then they should make the kit attractive to us and maybe listen. In a fashion, I know that they are (Asus EP121 was in my opinion and example of a great machine) but in another way they're not. (Nasty machines like the Viewsonic Viewpad 10, MSI windpad 100w)

"they need to extract every penny from us customers, and they are acting together to achieve this goal" - and Apple is doing that just fine while offering a very attractive device.

I'm agree with your Motion comments 100%. And throw in the HP decision to abandon the TC1100 after they had the chance to blow the competition away with a TC1200 that never came to be. HP could be in Apple's ***** now if they only led the market in 2006 with tablet/slate/hybrid innovation. Who do they now think is going to jump to Web OS?

And they could still make it now, but in all likelihood, they won't. Hopefully Acer will add a pen to their W500 and call it W600. Somebody must fully explore the potential of that form factor.

'IF' someone damn well release the following, I'd buy and keep.

    - Same physical dimensions as the W500
    - Stylus with touch
    - Battery that lasts a REALISTIC 6 hours (max 8)
    - Slice battery option for traveling, 8 hours realistic (mild use), 10 max.
    - Donkey glass for extra protection
    - Three USB slots (Keyboard, mouse, other)
    - SD card slot (I use that for backup)
    - Free Fish & Chips
    - Damn well accelerated for HD content as it's the year 2011
    - A fast SSD drive instead of a bog standard Sandisk
    - 2Gb ram at least or 3Gb to make us happy bunnies

Is that too much to ask for? Probably.

Needs minimum of 4GB ram and price should reflect the slow processor close to the w500 but a little cheaper.

I'm actually thinking of Linux on one of the Android tablets as the better choice right now.

Well it depends on what you want to do with your tablet. If it's using office-type software & marking up text/pdfs/inking, I haven't come across an android tablet that can do this successfully?
