I am not sure if this occurs on every T2010, but it does on mine. I was able to found out how to turn off the whining using rightmark's cpu util, but I have to make it a startup util and let it run automatically everytime time windows starts. I was wondering if anyone found a way to turn this whining off via the bios so I don't have an although small utility running everytime I use windows.

I had this problem a while back (when the system was not charging only), but it doesn't happen anymore. I think Vista could be to blame, since now I run XP.

How long did it make the noise before it went away? Are you sure you're not just so used to it that you don't hear that frequency anymore?

The noise would persist as long as the system was not charging. I believe someone said something then about cheap transistors on the motherboard, but I could be wrong.
It's definitely not there now, though.
