This Galaxy Unpacked event is so meh.....

Why is the Galaxy Book S in the product line if it doesn't have an S-pen??
    No 360 hinge....

    Samsung ALWAYS baffles me...

I was pondering this over breakfast (+tears :p) this morning.

It seems like Samsung is going with the "spray-and-pray" approach. Basically, they know WOA is "the hot new thing", but they have no idea what form-factor customers prefer.

So they just try all of them: some with pen, some no pen; some detachable, some not. And then they just pull some combination of "Book", "Galaxy", "S", "Pro" or whatever out of a hat for the name.

    Voila! Instant formula for success!

I think you nailed it. Certainly their approach early on with tablets in general before they settled in to the current lines, though the book S looks to mess it up again.

Isn't the Surface pro line the best selling for MS? How can an ordinary clamshell laptop even be considered over something like the GB2 form?

    Depends on the market.
Business: go, pro, Book 2 and laptop in that order
    Consumer: laptop, go, pro ,book2
Education: laptop, pro, go, book 2

Or at least that's what we've been told

It's always been their approach... Think of the Galaxy phone line.

    Le sigh

Huh, I had expected the book 2 to do better in education. I guess if it were limited to higher ed the book 2 might have moved up one or two spots.

I think you are right in higher Ed especially at MIT, Stanford, Cal Tech etc.

This is something I have seen come up on reddit often.

Particularly in regards to my pet peeve about serviceability

Many users don't know about the other options available from the other OEM'S, and when you make them aware the cry is that they are dig ificantly more expensive than the Surface.

Off course when you factor in that you have to purchase the type cover and stylus separately and the wider albeit differently structured support system you have to ask if that's truly so. But Microsoft has seemingly positioned itself and has mind share and is at least at first blush cheaper.
