I have decided that next pay check I get I'm going to upgrade my beloved laptop.

I read that good ram will increase graphics performance (guessed as much seeing as how it is a shared memory graphics controller) but which brands are most recommended and what's the highest clock speed supported?

here is the ram I'm considering

A buddy of mine uses g skill and says nothing but good things about it, but would it fit in the tx2500z with the heat sink on?

    thanks,

DDR2 800 is the max the tx2500 can use and as far as performance is concerned, there should be a slight increase but dont expect any drastic changes with the HD3200. Look for the lower timings but again I wouldnt fret too much about it either. I dont know if those gskills will fit into the yx2500 slot but any of the RAM from crucial, kingston, corsair, mushkin, gskill etc are pretty similar, so go for the cheaper one is what I would suggest.

If anyone has tried ram with a heatsink then please chime in, that gskill ram is most appealing to me.

However I have also found a kingston brand called hyperx which a lot of sites rate good but they all do complain about heat and I have read a lot about heat damage to a certain a tx series...

also gskill makes some what seems better ram without a heat sink

but what's the main difference between 5-5-5-18 and 5-5-5-15?

    shouldn't 5-5-5-18 be a cas latency of 6 rather than 5?

    thanks,
