no they've been offering consumers who's complaint's get moved up the ladder, but there is no general recall or extended warranty notice in place.

Has anyone found out whether the penny is a good permanent solution or not? I just bidded on tx1000 on eBay, and I think I will probably end up winning. But I found out this heat problem too late, so now I have to find the best solution to fixing it if I win. It's also too late for me to retract the bid.

rrrright, the update to this, is that dabs were NOT offerring me a manufactureres repair & return!

it was simply the same offer (of £350 and i give the laptop to them), but no one could be bothered to pen a specific email, so they just sent me the stock returns email..talk about lazy!

    don't buy it.

cite this EXACT reason why you are pulling out.

you can't be responsible for HP's bad design.

hope i got to you in time!

Thanks. I didn't win, thank God! I got a Toshiba Protege m700 w/2 years of warranty from Toshiba. The Toshiba has far better record.

well, the £350 rebate arrived today from dabs.com for this POS laptop (tx1340ea)..after they collected it and took it back.

they've managed to give me a credit note...if they think i'm buying off them again, they can forget that!

Mines finally died. I did do the penny repair 3 times but it still kept breaking down. I looked at eBay on motherboards but they're like $200-$250. Repair bids were more reasonable at around $150 but the guarantee isn't that great. It'll be by last HP tablet purchase. And when I called HP repair they adamantly deny there's problems with this tablet. Mine gave out 3 months after a 2 year warranty coverage. I also have a dv2000 and it wasn't part of the recall even though the wireless and such weren't working. I replaced the motherboard and all's well with no thanks to HP! No more HP for me since I got burned twice already.
