I do need to be mobile, actually. Frankly, I prefer PC to Mac anyway.

Wait for SP5, rumors say it will be march 2017/ first quarter/ spring.
    or
buy the Surfacebook with performance base now.

have you tried Wacom AES convertibles? There IAF is as good as Wacom EMR and scan rate is as good as Apple pencil. Though pressure curve of NTrig is more satisfying.

Wacom does seem a bit overpriced. And @darkmagistric has told me many horror stories regarding build quality. but I am a note taker not an artist. I can't recommend the current generation Surface to anybody who was thinking about buying Wacom mobile studio pro too. There's just no comparison.

Well, I also want it for the write off this year.

I've tried all 3: EMR, AES, and N-Trig. EMR is still king for me.

I request @Shogmaster and @thatcomicsguy our most sensitive connoisseurs of pen performance to help you out. Your criteria are unlikely to be satisfied by anything other than a Wacom mobile studio pro.

Thanks. I'm actually going to get one regardless. I just haven't figured out which size model to get. It's a fairly minor decision in the grand scheme of things. :)

I do like the screen size of my Fujitsu t935 but it'd be nice to have a little more real estate so I'm starting to lean to the 15.6" model. Just not sure I need the extra horsepower (and cost) of the i7. It'd be great if they had other configurations to choose from.

Apple pencil is the only thing that comes close to it. SP5 is not going to come this year. you are saying you can't wait. If you can afford it then go for the 16" model and rest assured even the graphic artists designing cars at BMW or Drawing animes at walt disney, they'll be using the same thing you have. But you have to keep in mind the battery is less than 6 hours.

Basically they will extend the warranty for however long the finance agreement was for. But if you finance for 3 years....pay it off in one month....they'll still honor the warranty for the 3 years.

Consider also the i5 comes with only 8gb of ram.
I still considert he price of these machines to be a robbery but who am I to judge since I want to buy a surface studio? :D

This is a pretty thorough in-store walkthrough of both models. Cursor lag looks consistent with any other device I've tested, so I think he's wrong about drivers making much of a difference.
