I hadn't used the stand on my Companion 1 for awhile. I had trouble getting it to snap back on; it took quite a bit of effort. Now I think I know why: It won't come off even with great effort and my conclusion is that I have put it on upside down, against its will.

I have applied extreme force trying to pry it off to the point that the stand starts making an awful crunching sound, but with no luck. I've tried to dig into the slot with a sticker removal tool (it's narrow can be worked in there) but that has no effect.

    Anyone have this problem before?
    Any suggestions?

sorry I can't help, just o specify there is no upside down with the stand: you use it one way or the other depending if you're right or left handed. ;)

If that's true, I wonder why the stand won't come off. I'll try again today with a less-force-more-angles approach.

I can only tell that the stand on my first Companion was more prone to get stuck sometimes and needed some force. so much I always feared to break it.

If you end up breaking completely, the pen case actually does a really good job of propping it up at a low angle.

I got it out. Just had to rotate it around the connection slot until it snapped out. Thanks for the replies, everyone!
