Any updates on this issue from those with replacement units? Does it seem to be a small proportion still, or mainstream? (Hoping the former...)

well, my replacement has been OK since I got it on Thursday last week, and I've been using it quite a bit since then. But that said, my original worked fine for about 10 days before starting to fail, so it maybe too early to tell...

    Cheers,
    Alex

My replacement just passed its first week of flawless operation. Everything is smooth as silk. with my first unit, I started noticing some issues almost immediately. So, I'm hoping this one will be trouble free.

I wonder if it's possible to find out manufacturing details on units - might help in distinguishing 'batches' and narrowing issues to first production run units.

Bought one last week, living in fear of the issue surfacing!

Had mine for over a month before it started not recognizing the
pen. 12cHID error in device manager.

Thought at first it was a program I installed, after uninstall and restore
the pen worked for a few days.

Then it quit more often, restart no longer fixed it. Restore sometimes, and
deleting the 12cHID--PLUS the touch screen 12cHID.
Holding the button down and restarting would sometimes work.

It has decended into practical non-workiness.
Pen is definetly intermittant to non-existant.

Have called for RMA and see if they can fix it.

For those who sent in their units to be repaired, did they send you a
new one or repair the old one?

Mine was replaced by the retailer (Ebuyer) but they directed me to ASUS UK to get a fault log number first before they could process it.

Swapped it for a new one in person at the Microsoft store. I was within the 30 day exchange period.

Similar to what markkemperman said a few notes north of here....

Suppose this would be next to impossible to find out, but I wonder if these problems are related to a particular production run or are they systemic with the device. Regardless, it does make one (yes me) leery about buying one. Wait for a M80TB?

If mine gets wonky i'm going to deal with Asus directly. Either they will fix the issue or not. I don't have time for trial and error with returns.
