Vivotab Note 8 pen stopped working

    Received my tablet back from Asus (Melbourne repair centre), after they had it for a week. According to the repair report they'd - "Reimaged windows, activated Updated pen firmware and drivers". Under Action is listed - "BIOS/Firmware/Software Upgrade".

    I've had it back for just under a week & while I've not used it much, every time I have used it, the stylus (both supplied & wacom bamboo feel) have worked. Fingers crossed this will continue when I start using onenote again to write notes at work & during rp sessions.

    It's been 14 days with my 3rd VN8. I got the first 2 (both 64GB) from MS and they both had the digitizer problem after about 2-3 weeks.I got the 3rd unit from Newegg. It's been working fine so far with no pen problem, but it's only been 2 weeks.

    I don't know the date stamp on the first unit but the 2nd one was 2014/02. The 3rd unit is also 2014/02. The product name on the bar code on the MS unit says "VivoTab Note 8 (64G-MS)" whereas it's "M80TA-C1-BK" on the Newegg unit. Not that it matters but I thought it's interesting.

    yeah i have one built in march E3. my pen still working after 10 days. but i have problem. i need to push hard with pen to make selection, harder than finger touch. do u suffer from the same issue guys? Or is that normally?

    Do they still have your tablet at the service depot? Classic Asus USA. I'm hoping that they, at least, take the time to figure out the problem.

    Any word from them?

    BTW, what is the latest anyone's digitizer has failed. Is there a burn-in period, beyond which the problem is not likely to occur (he says with a ray of hope in his voice:rolleyes:)?

    The pen of my AVN8 64GB stopped working after a shutdown. I spoke today with the German service. He says it is a software problem. In fact, my pen works again after I did a complete factory reset.

    It sounds if the digitizer does not 'freeze or quit' you are good to go.
    BUT once it fails, it starts the ASUS AUTO SELF-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE
    (usually after 30 days)

    Been in repair since the 27th of March.
    Called yesterday for staus(again). They 'think' it has been repaired,
    but do not know if for sure?

    Sounds like most have recieved their units back in a couple of weeks.
    Hoping that the wait is worth it and it is really fixed...

    Hmm... a month. Don't think I want to live without it that long (thinking of buying replacement). Out of curiosity where did you send it? Mine went to Texas.

    Mine went to LA

    It arrived March 31 at the repair center,
    according to Asus.
    I did not imagine it would take this long for
    repair.

    Maybe why they have not shown up at the big box
    stores yet. Walmart has updated date from 4/24 to 4/29

    Confidence building response. It will be interesting to see what they've done to the tablet.
