I feel your pain my friend. I would recommend calling.

BTW, I just got my VivoTab today. Will be getting the ribbon cables from Digikey sometime this week. I will be doing the two cable replacement job this weekend probably. Nothing wrong with the unit, just being preemptive. Is there anything I can do to boost your confidence in replacing the ribbon cables yourself?

I am going to wait to replace. I too have the digi key cables. But my philosophy is "if it isn't broke..." you know the rest.

I apologize, you are of course correct, I meant Enable/Disable.

The problem is epidemic, it's like ebola but only on such devices such as this:vbtongue:

Not so bad now that there seems to be a fix that is cheap. And mine has not shown any problems so far.

2/14 production date. 8 months without digitizer or touch problems. Of course, my display is tiger-striped from leaking and the mUSB doesn't charge.

Well, if you don't count that threat I had to give mine, I've not had any real problems ... No leaking, pen working, perfect touch, charging no problem...

When the Asus works, it is the best thing since sliced cheese.
The Wacom pen is tough to beat for writing, drawing etc.
I went and bought an HP x2 612 w/ Wacom as a " larger companion" to my Asus.

Thanks to Mesosphere's fix, the Auto Self-Destruct has been averted (for the time being)

Hey, Bron--I mean Norman, did you get that smell
    out of your basement yet?
    :)

Seems like my self destruct sequence has just been initiated. Purchased this on the third week of August, 2014/6 batch. When I booted up just now it showed 'The device cannot start' error. Rebooting didn't solve it. However, when I disable and enable the device in Device Manager it seemed to work again.

Fingers crossed... Thankfully there's a service centre nearby so I guess I'll take advantage of the warranty.

If the service center is nearby, maybe that is the way to go, but in case you missed it. See the stickied DIY fix thread (link is also in my sig).

It is a shame that even June build dates are still having this problem.
