I don't know where to gripe about the new format,
    so i'll gripe here.

Looks like Toshiba just took a step in the other direction. It has released a cheapo version of an 8" tablet but with the Encore 2, it has added an N-Trig Duosense pen.

Toni - you know about the fix right? http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/thr...-asus-vivotab-note-8-pen-failure.63696/page-7

If they repaired it with the same spec or batch of cable they originally built it with I think this will not be uncommon. I noticed that the cable I got from DigiKey seemed more robust than the original cable I pulled out. I think they may just be sourcing cheap (bad) cables, and it doesn't do much good to replace one bad cable with another bad cable. Just my guess, but given that people who have had repairs done are again getting failures I think this may be what's happening.

I don't think I want to go the DIY route... yet. I just did a reset and reboot, got it back for now. I'll bring it back if it gets worse. They did promise to cover me for an additional 2 months.

Luckily (or rather unluckily) Asus' service centre is just down the street from where I live, I'll just carry in. Guy probably recognizes me by now.

I'm hoping it was just fluke, I just did some Windows updates last night and this happened.

Order the DigiKey cable, then bring it in with you and say "Here, try this cable" :)

Have you sent the tablet in for repair previously?
Did they replace the cable then?
    Have you tried Mesophere's fix?

    - Yes
    - They say yes but I think only the motherboard was replaced, my own guess
    - No, I don't want to do anything DIY until warranty is gone.
