    Hi people,

I was enjoying my Note 8, sketching and handwriting a lot since I received it last week, and suddenly the tablet stopped to register anything from the pen (touch is still fine). I tried, but to no avail :

    - installing/removing Wacom FeelIT driver
    - "refreshing" the whole windows 8 to factory defaults

In the device manager there is an exclamation mark on what should be the pen device entry point ("HID I2C Device" without FeelIT, and "Wacom Device" with it). The property of the device state gives a Code 10 and a "A request for the HID descriptor failed"

Has someone experienced this ? Any advice ?

    Regards,

I've had the same issue yesterday after a week or so of ownership. A system restore got it working this morning but now it's happened again. I got the following error:

    code 43
The device failed the SET_POWER command.

    Cheers,
    Alex

update: this, or similar errors are reported on other Win 8 devices, seems to be related to resuming from connected standby. Disabling and then re enabling the device got the stylus working again without a reboot, but isn't a proper solution in my book.

    Cheers, Alex

Hi - amazingly enough this exact same thing happened to me today too ! Haven't tried refreshing, only restarting etc but my driver symptoms are identical to yours. Guess it's looking like a hardware fault then :(

By the look of it, hardware failure is the most plausible.

And Asus support answered to me : RMA.

I´ve got the same Problem here since a week. i´m standing in contact to Asus support. They gave me a firmware update for the Wacom, and than there were no problems for one and a half day, but in this morning the pen didn´t work again.. I hope there will be a solution on monday

Hmm, well I've now got the same "device cannot start" error, reboot or disable/reenable doesn't fix it. Looks like I'll be RMAing too.

    Cheers,
    Alex

I described this issue since 1 month now, in the main thread.
I have tried many things, and did not find a reliable way to recover pen.
    And it is a pain.

    What works the most often:
    - when it happen, immediately power off with the button to make the M80TA sleeps. Count 30 secs. Power on. 50% chance you recover the pen immediately.
    - if you did not succeed with previous tip, use the start menu, then stop or disconnect, then shutdown. Count 30 seconds. Start your M80TA. 30% chance to succeed.
    - if it does not succeed, try again tip 2 later.

I think it is not an hardware issue but a driver + memory issue.

    Edit 2015/02/10 :
Finaly it is an hardware issue as Mesosphere proved it.
And after changing the cable, the pen works perfectly.
    And I am confident.

thierryb I tried your tip 2 almost twenty times, no luck, I still got the Code 10 "A request for the HID descriptor failed" on the I2C HID/Wacom Device. Did you got this error too when your pen input fails ? Perhaps my problem is really hardware related?
