Agreed. Aya Neo is getting a fair share of backlash too for having changed colors without user consent and wanting to charge over $1000 for an upgraded version without even adding an OLED display or a current generation processor.

In other news, someone is already endeavoring to make their very own DIY Steam Deck.

Steam Deck Or Nintendo Switch OLED? Here’s What Asians Prefer (ign.com)
This must really hit close to home for Nintendo...
...especially when "Nintendo Switch accounted for 87% of consoles sold in Japan last year."

, so he is using Steam Link hardware (aside from off the shelf parts), that is quite creative. I remember Steam Link was eventually sold at ~80% price cut so his DIY is probably quite cheap too. edit: oh just read a comment of him mentioning he already is at 350 $ and suspects it will be 600 $ for the final version.

    Battery life looks promising:

"So far they had played three hours of Steam Deck and the battery dropped from 100% to
46%. This seems much better than I expected given the range of games (Shadow of the Tomb Raider, DOOM (2016), Cyberpunk 2077) they were testing."

So potentially 5-6 hours battery life with AAA titles? Wow...

That's 18% per hour, so it might make it over 5 hrs if it doesn't have a low battery warning/shutdown at 10% or whatever. Definitely a YMMV kind of thing, but encouraging.

I'd love to see something like it in the Go4. That said, I'm sure the battery life has at least as much to do with the 7" screen with games running at 720p.

, yeah though the Go's screen is power efficient too, so as long as you set games to ~720p such battery life should be possible in theory for the Go if such a cpu is used and the battery size would be similar. Of course this would make the Go heavier and the passive cooling would be insufficient. However what if you take the Amd cpu and limit it to similar power usage of the Go 2 m3? That would be interesting I think, at the very least it should give amazing battery life.

As the French saying goes, plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

I always end up with this configuration. It started with the original Yoga, then SP2, there were a couple of NUCs with monitor on an arm along the way, and now with the Yoga 9i. My Nintendo Switch... switched the monitor with my Hades Canyon NUC for a while, which I thought was almost ideal, if only it was just one device I could undock and use in couch potato mode. ;)

Yeah, the Steam Deck might be perfect for me. :newpalm:
