    Thanks for the hint

I already tried the reset button, it didn't do the trick unfortunately.

Unfortunately I am not in the States nor in Japan at the moment so there's no way I could find one at a local store, guess the only thing left to do is to order a new Adapter and try it out.

Worst case the Motherboard shorted out...

You don't need to find another Z Canvas; just another Sony laptop. Apparently, they have all used the same AC adapter...

Also, the current model VAIOs should all use the same AC adapter...

    Yes
I figured that out and I have tested it. I'm pretty sure it's the motherboard now.

I encountered the same experience with you!

Did you solve the problem? Could you please share the solution?

    Cheers!

Add me to the list. Unit wasn't charging and finally ran out of power and wouldn't turn on. Of course my kid didn't tell me until it was dead, so we lost all of her clip drawings.

When plugged in the charging brick light would go out almost like it was shorting out.

I had a square trade warranty but called us-vaio first. They were helpful and said it was probably the battery but couldn't rule out the mother board until they opened it. I was outside of warranty so it would have cost me $99 just to get a quote.

Since I had square trade I initiated a claim and a week later got the news that they couldn't fix it.
