I can't work very fast without all of the keyboard shortcuts when using various adobe products, and it's not very comfortable to try and work with the tablet opened up like a laptop...

With that in mind I've been wondering about keypads...

I don't want a numeric keypad. Instead I'd like to find something that's completely customizable...

    For example:

Unfortunately this thing came with a ~$200 price tag...
~and I don't necessarily need that many buttons, a small foot print would be great~

Are there any cheap options for this kind of thing?

Oh wow, I'd love to get something like that "half-keyboard," unfortunately... it's a little pricey.

Either way, that's some great info, thanks^

Hi there. Why you don´t take a look at special gaming keyboards? I had exactly the same "problem". An external keyboard was an idea but they are so big. Last week I tried out my Hama freedom mini keyboard, that I don´t need any more for my cell phone and pda. After a hour of try and error I got it to work with my R1E and it is really nice (I mostly need the space bar and delete, but ctrl+a and all that stuff works also fine). Here is a link:

But some keys don´t work right, as they are plus + and minus -. Hm, not so good.
Back to the gaming keyboards: some of them can be "programmed", you can go and get yourself the keys you want. I just bought the Hama cruX which is the same as the Fang Gamepad:

I had luck and paid less then 20 Euro for it (Germany). It came today so I have to take a closer look at it and try it out, but I think it would be the right thing for my use. And if not, I will control Gordon Freeman with it ;o)

Found a video on youtube about the nuLooq:

On Amazon.de there are 2 users who have it but they are not so pleased about it.
I think you should take a look at gaming keyboards/pads, cause they are not so expensive and often good to configure )

sexy? really? That huge block? The optimus line is, in my opinion, awful, regarding design.
And do you really need keys with an OLED display? Do you really still look at the keys while using a keyboard?

But the Brando looks like a nice keyboard for tablet PC users who only want it for shortcuts, because fast typing on it will be impossible. And all this for only 25$, that's not bad.

But it is not that special small like it seems on the pictures with this gigantic hand.
See the comparison image (Brando vs. Stowaway vs. USB FrogPad vs. OQO)
