I bought the UK model TX2520ea last wednesday after reading many reviews etc and checking it out for myself at PC World. Couldn't help but play with the tablet features for almost two whole days and then decided it was time to use it in laptop mode as I partly bought it for c# coding on the move.

Well I opened it up and started to type some, then the V key didn't feel like the rest so I used it some more, it clicked (into place?) and is now perfect. So I carried on until I came across a very annoying flex/squeak when holding down the left shift key. One thing that pushed me towards this tablet pc was the none flexy/squeaky keyboard (read on reviews). I was somewhat disapointed and decided it would be best to get PC World to put another new one aside for me to try there and then.

Before I do, has anyone else had the same flexing/squeaking when using the left hand shift button? (put a bit of preasure on). The rest of the keyboard seems very very solid...

Other than the flex/squeak I had one other small problem. The battery seems to have a small wobble. Is this normal?

P.S. Loving the tablet pc. Just hope I can get one without the keyboard problems. :D

You know, I have the tx2510us retail configuration, and I notice that I intermittently get creaks and pops from the plastic around the keyboard when I press some keys along the outer perimeter. The function buttons especially like to do this. For how much I play games in emulators, I'm looking at USB joypads so I don't wear out certain commonly used keys faster.

The battery also has a tendency to wiggle up and down, but only 1-2 mm.

    Hey there,
I've never noticed any squeeking or flexing in my keyboard, but now that you've said something, I can confirm it is there on my tx2500 CTO as well. I have to give it some SERIOUS pressure though - way more than I'd ever naturally give it with my left pinky. How hard do you have to press to get that flex to happen? I'd say if it happens consistently ever time you hit the shift key, you might have a problem on your hands, but if you have to give it more than natural pressure, I wouldn't worry about it at all. Also, I have an 8-cell battery and it does have a very slight wobble. My previous laptop, a dv5140us, rocked a 12-cell battery and had similar wobbling of the battery. I think its pretty normal - that being said, I didn't get any wobble from the 6 cell, only the 8, and even then its not enough to be problematic in any way.

I can say that i experienced creaking of the wrist rest in the tx1000 which has the same build as the tx2500, and it doesn't require placing any pressure on the unit, simply placing your hands to type is enough, its one of the things that turned me off of the build quality of the machine, other users have mentioned experiencing the same thing throughout the tx line.

Thanks for your replies. I've switched it for another one and the keyboard is alot better. One thing I have noticed with the new one is the dvd drive door pushes up. So if you push from the bottom it moves. I didn't notice this until I got home... is it the same with the other 2500 models?

I have to push the DVD drive in from the corner so I don't scrape it on the bottom of the wrist rest. Now that's crappy plastics (with a dash of bad design).
