I have my tx2500 pretty well trained and submitting to my will nowadays, except for one little problem.. ok it's kind of annoying... when I first got my tx, with bios f.07, the fan would be off when the heat was low... just like my previous HP tablet the would only spin when the heat got excessive... now it's constantly on... usually quiet, but definitely audible.

Is there a control panel or option to dial back the fan?

If you are using vista have you tried looking in your power settings? On my M700 there is an option there to adjust the fan settings.

This is a concern for me as well. I'm looking to replace a Sony SZ series (non-tablet) notebook because it's extremely noisy. Should I take a pass on the tx2500 if I'm looking for a tablet that runs close to silent? Thanks

tx2500 would not be your choice. Though not intolerable, the noise of tx2500 is a problem I am not quite comfortable with.
