So, my girlfriend somehow managed to screw up the default pen and touch calibration on her TX2500. Windows calibration is useless, so I need to reset back to factory defaults. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling wacom and hid devices, tried adding the reg file on the swsetup drivers wacom folder, but nothing seems to work. Any ideia. She doesn't want me to reinstall windows vista.
I noticed when I installed the tablet driver that came with the tx2500z on windows that there was something called Tablet Preference File Utility in the start menu. Not sure if it's there on the default Vista, but it has an option to remove preference file to restart the driver instance. Just thought I'd mention it. Maybe it's a Win7 thing and totally unrelated to the drivers I installed.
So, since I couldn't find anything, I re-installed Vista using HP restore. And it didn't work... It's a lot better, but still off and annoying me. On my Tecra M7, calibration is perfect, especially in Windows 7. I tried that remove preference file option before and after doing a system restore and it didn't work. Isn't there any other application to calibrate the tablet? Maybe something that has a few more calibration points.
I think wonky calibration is just a HP thing. I played around with Windows 7 on tx2690eo, and pen was still significantly in the top and bottom right corners, exactly where one needs precision ;(
Here is a great calibration fix that works on windows 7 (and might on Vista) it was posted by one of the pen&touch devs: Pick either landscape or portrait (which ever you choose will be the one with the best calibration) Into an elevated cmd.exe session type one of the following commands: Landscape mode Code: tabcal lincal novalidate XGridPts=5,175,512,849,1062,1275 YGridPts=4,137,300,463,630,796 Portrait mode Code: tabcal lincal novalidate XGridPts=4,137,300,463,630,796 YGridPts=5,175,512,849,1062,1275 Don't know if it will work for Vista, but it does amazing things for 7
