I've been searching on ebay and keep finding different models of tx2's, like with at least a half a dozen names. It makes it really difficult to find all the models to find the best price, let alone figure out what the differences are. Does anyone know of a list of these? Like what's the us vrs z, vrs eo, vrs 2500 vrs 2525, ect? Seems really confusing.

tx2z is the newest one with multi-touch. if you search ebay for TX2z, you will get only one model, but with different specs.

HP has hundreds of variants along with custom configured ones...

So, its quite impossible to comprehensively list all of them and their price. As long as the model number begins with a tx2,tx2z or tx2-1xxxx, then you are getting the latest ones. The previous versions were the tx2500 or tx2500z(any model with model numbers begining from tx25xx to tx29xx) belong to this series. Even older than the tx2500 are the tx2000 or tx2000z(any model from tx2000 to tx2499). Usually the custom configured ones are refered to by their general name - for example tx2500 or the tx2500z. The z in the end just refers to the fact that it is AMD powered. A 't' in the end refers to an Intel powered system but HP has never offered Intel based systems for the tx series, so dont worry but thats just the general naming scheme. For retail pre-configured machines you will typically see either a 'us' or 'nr' which is just a nomenclature for the market/store the laptop is sold through.

Ah thanks. Are there benchmark/processor differences between the models, other than I know the tx2000 used nvidea instead of ati chips? They used the same or even more powerful amd processors though?

All tx2500 and tx2 models have similar performance and have ATi graphics instead of nvidia. Ofcourse each model is going to vary in terms of performance sicne it comes with different cpu, RAM, HDD choices. but compared to the previous generation with the nvidia GPU, the performance improvements are mostly in the graphics side, cpu performance is more or less the same.

BTW, I wouldnt recommend the older tx2000/tx1000 models with the nvidia graphics sicne they are known to have higher failure rates than the newer ones with ATi hardware.
