I finally had a hardware failure of the WLAN card on my tx2000z after two years. WiFi completely disappeared and reinstalling BIOS, broadcom software, etc., doesn't bring it back. Am sending it off to HP tomorrow.

For those of you who have sent laptops with this problem into HP Service:

    1) how did your laptops perform after they were 'fixed' and returned?
    2) how long did it take to get them back?
    3) what model laptop do you have?

    1) Worked fine for a while, been in for reparation several times
    2) Took me about 1.5 week door to door give or take
    3) Tx1000

In my experience this problem is not fixable. But it was much cooler after they swapped fan/cpu paste

After HP ignored me after my tx1000z died 3 months after a 2 year warranty, I just changed the motherboad myself. They wanted to charge me close to $300 to repair the MB and they didn't guarantee it won't happen again. For half the price I did it myself and got a MB from eBay (exchanged). Much cheaper than buying a new tablet
