    the more often one charge li-ion batts the more healthy they get
    running them down is not really good for them at all
    that a myth
    which will shorten their lifespan

    That is good general advice, but it doesn't answer my question - why am I only getting a 13% improvement in running time between full power and power saver mode? (110 minutes to 124 minutes).

    My original 6 cell battery is 8 months old now and its performance is about the same as the new one I have just started to use.

    Are others really getting up to 3 hours on their TX1000s? If so, how?

    I find that HP Recommended mode is a good compromise there is little impact on performance and it runs cooler, but the running time benefit is only about 5 minutes over full power mode.

    Changing the screen brightness to full makes little difference to the running time too.

    Ive just bought a hp pavillion tx1000 and have a few snags. This is an upgrade from an old dell 1300 with xp to this one and I'm still a bit lost. firstly I find it slower than the old one to boot and open and switch between applications. Secondly when I first used it in tablet form the screen went from landscape to portrait but it wont any more. Using the touchscreen is difficult as I really have to jap the screen to jet a responce and I am afraid to damage the screen. And lastly how do you recalibrate the screen for pen or fingertip use as mine is way off. If there is anyone out there that can help I would really appreciate it.

    well vista is more heavy then xp was
    one thing you can do is to remove all eyecandy and use
    one of the many guids to tweak vista

    it will never work that well with fingers
    as it block to big press surfices so one have to use the nail

    and calibration go to
    control panel->mobile pc->tablet pc settings->calibrate the screen

    Got the screen recalibrated. I bought this model in the states on a recent trip but left a lot of the paperwork after me. Which is the rotate button again. Sorry for all the Q's but I'm new to this type of notebook. Thanks
