Hi everyone I updated this thread with the last version

this script try to emulate the tabtip (tabletinput) of windows 7, with a buttton next to the input box to call the keyboard

you need install the autohotkey first

    keycaller.ahk : View attachment 2928

    changes
    - visual button (you can change it from the folder img)
    - solve error in desktop internet explorer
    - tray icon - touch it to turn on/off the script

    know issues
    - sometimes shows quickly the charm (let me know if it happens to you and if it's annoying)
    - if the keyboard is closed by the user the script can't detect it and continues not showing the button until you focus out and in again
    - if the keyboard is open in the taskbar the script don't detect it and continues showing the button
    - issues with not standard input box like Firefox address/search bar and some chrome html input (the w7 tabtip have this problem also)

if somebody have another issue, let me know

    sorry my english, bye

This sounds really neat and very very relevant. I'm surprised no one has tried it yet. I'd do so, but I don't have Win8. You should see if dceggert or e-schreiber are interested. They both have major issues with Win8 as far as I remember, and this issue with the TIP was one of the first ones. If they've got Win8 installed, I'm sure they'd be game to test. You should PM them. Good luck!

Unfortunately I cannot test it until my Win 8 machine comes home... ;(

Update: where does the file (script) go in order to execute?

Hi thanks for the feedback! To run the script you must install autohotkey, you can download from this link AutoHotkey and then you can run the script in my attachment (keyboardcaller.ahk)

    thanks for testing!

    Good and bad news.
good: I have your tabtip square where I click
bad: when I click on your square, you do not open the tabtip

No it continues to be here, even when the keyboard is open
Your square appears even if I click outside an input box
And the keyboard closes only if I close it
