Interesting. Couldn't you just buy a burly rugged cover for the tab S7+ (or whichever one suited your needs best) and get better bang for your buck? Unlike laptops, you can buy a specialized case for nearly any mobile device...

Yes and no. We are in the business of custom usually very ruggedized devices. Cases can provide some additional protection, primarily in our experience against things like smaller drops, shocks and so forth.

The active line, somewhat unique, not only has more ruggedized outer cases, but also has things internally like addition structural support for the display to combat torsional stress (twisting) and gaskets to further enhance water resistance. Or they may put additional coatings on the display to reduce the chance of fracturing , but at the expense of a few percent of maximum brightness (though with the Active specifically they have put a beefier backlight in to compensate)

The best explanation I give our customers is that the best ruggedized cases get you to 80% but it's the 20% where the most mission critical failures occur.

If the overall build is similar to previous actives, this is a very rugged device.

Thanks for clarifying! Sounds worth it for that extra 20% then if you are using this stuff in rugged conditions.

If only it had a daylight viewable display (and no, trying to outbright the sun on a battery powered device is not a reasonable solution).

Have the Tab Active 2 and it has been 3 years now, marvel of a device for inking .

The cover actually come off easily the tablet itself is rugged waterproof with removable battery. Hopefully the Tab active 3 has the same battery so i can use the batteries from Tab active 2 .

    Lovely device
