    Hi!

I just received the dynaPad I ordered and in setting it up, I realized my TruPen is not working properly. The cursor is there and follows the pen, but the tap (as click) doesn't work. It only works if I press the side button at the same time. My settings are all correct in terms of pen and touch and Wacom tablet properties.

The Toshiba support rep I spoke to seemed to not know what I meant, read the manual (which I did before calling) and pretty much shrugged and said something along the lines of having to press the side button to click. Oh, and to go back to the reseller to get a replacement pen, because it's an accessory and not about the computer.

Did anyone else have this issue with the pen? Is there something in the settings I need to do that I haven't?

You may not have a dynaPad TruPen but its incompatible relative the Encore 2 Write TruPen. Check out my review of both devices for images.

I have the pen that was packaged with the tablet. It has the tab that inserts into the tablet slot. It's the proper pen.

Ok. That's a start. Have you tried installing the latest Wacom Feel driver and replaced the batteries?

I downloaded the latest driver, and the battery is completely new. The Wacom panel tells me the battery is at full power.

I thought the installation fixed it, but I only got one good click out of it before it stopped responding. Basically, the pen acts as if it's hovering and never clicking, except when I haven't used it in a while so that first click works, and then it doesn't anymore.

It requires me holding the side button (back one) to register regular clicks.

Sounds like you may have a defective pen then.

I was afraid of that. It's going to be a pain to have it replaced... Thanks for trying to help!

You might also try to reinstall Windows, sometimes an update installation can create havoc and a new installation from scratch may fix it.

That sounds too drastic. The pen is almost certainly the culprit.
