I keep a DP to VGA adapter for the two or three times a year that I have to connect through a VGA port. Give me extra USB-C ports on my dock and I'll use an adapter for the obsolete connectors. Seems backwards to me the way Lenovo is doing it.

I completely agree, but there are so many more technophobes than technophiles out there.

I'm sure you're all familiar with the expression mansplaining. When I visit clients or clients' clients and there is some technical mishap, I usually let the big boys go at it for a few minutes. When they haven't resolved it and start scratching their heads I step in and 95 of 100 times I can fix it (usually driver or device management issues).

When I go back to my seat I mutter, just loud enough for everybody to hear; "never let a man do a woman's job". I've lost two contracts on that, but I'm sure I've gained many more.

Man, the Surface Pro 3 should have had a full sized VGA port

Anyone hope the X1 tablet can get true clampshell abilities like the toshiba Z20tc or the thinkpad helix?

Well, the "new "X1 Tablet" unfortunately brings us the first tech disappointment in 2017. They basically only updated the processor, everything else stayed almost the same. Small improvement to the keyboard and it looks like the USB-C port now supports DP Alt mode, but still no Thunderbolt 3.
    Major disappointment.... :(

Lenovo improved their other devices quite a bit, but they seemingly don't care about the X1 Tablet at all. So for me this is one device not to consider in 2017.

    The new CPUs are
    • Intel® Core™ i7 7Y75 vPro Prozessor
    • Intel® Core™ i5 7Y57 vPro Prozessor
    • Intel® Core™ i5 7Y54 Prozessor

To be honest, the Miix 720 is a much more interesting device than the new X1 Tablet.

Miix 720 doesn't have removable storage and battery. That's a big deal for some of us.
