There have been large discussions about the brand of the TPT2 digitizer. Most people say that is Wacom, even some third party companies (SOFTPRO - Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2). But Lenovo does not includes this information in their specifications.

However, looking at the TPT2 drivers from lenovo.com under "Mouse and Keyboard category", the driver seems not to be neither N-trig nor Wacom:

    Atmel Touch Debug Port Driver
    gagx02ww.exe
    316 KB Windows 8 32bit 6.2.9200.16384 29 Nov 2012

That means that TPT2 includes an Amtel digitzer?

Anyone has some experience with Amtel or comparison between Amtel and Wacom digitizers?

Hmm, that's really interesting. One thing to consider is that the TPT2 uses an Atmel touchscreen (like many tablets and smartphones do) and uses the Wacom digitizer layer. It's strange that there aren't any drivers for the digitizer listed though.

I found on this spec sheet a listing for a Wacom Digitizer and active Pen. Scroll down to the last page and look under the "Optional Pen" heading. This spec sheet is slightly different than the other ones I've seen linked to on this forum though. It is dated as Nvember 20th, 2012 though.

    What do you guys think?

    Dear "mios2",

This is the editorial team of the webpage of the 3rd party company you were mentioning (Softpro).

The information at SOFTPRO - Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 is based on best information avaiable so far, however we also still wait for the arrival of a device from the final production series for detailed investigation inhouse.

If there would have been a switch in capturing technology between the model on show at IFA in Berlin on August 29 and the final one of December 2012 we will of course adjust the information on that page. In addition to that we also treasure every hin from the Tablet PC Forum Review Community on that matter.

Lenovo communicates about an "Active Digitzier Pen" for the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 with 1,024 pressure levels (similar to the ASUS Vivo Tab and the Samsung Smart Ativ PC Pro)
ThinkPad Tablet 2 Pen | Lenovo | (US)

When accessing the official Lenovo page on Dec 10, 2012 1 pm German time there are more things irritating with regards to the information available about the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 - maybe due to work in progress as the ThinkPad Tablet 2 is expected to be available in December. Here's another example:
ThinkPad Tablet 2 Pen - Overview

The image displayed for the ThinkPad Tablet 2 Active Digitizer Pen (Order No. # 0A33899) is the wrong one. It shows the pen of the Lenovo Think Pad Tablet running on Android and the Android tablet itself. The same image is shown in ThinkPad Tablet Pen - Overview However this pen only supports 256 pressure levels and comes with AAAA batteries in most countries with batteries (Order No. # 0A33887) .

We have addressed this topic at Lenovo on on Dec 5 as this caused confusion about the tablet types which really are quite different several times already.

With regards to the stylus: The Atmel Stylus ( Atmel® maXStylus ) is also said to be able to differentiate 256 levels of pressure ( Active Stylus maXStylus Touchscreens Solution- Atmel Corporation ) Reports about the Atmel Stylus have been mixed, like this one of Notebook Italia in YouTube. Atmel maXStylus: pen and multi touch input - YouTube .

Side Note: Back in June 2012 we thought that maybe the MIcrosoft Surface Pro would arrive with an Atmel Stylus as Atmel claims to be Microsoft development partner Releases- Atmel Corporation and the figure of 600 ppi whoch may be seen at Touchscreen Controllers- Atmel Corporation was also part of the resentation on June 18 http://live.theverge.com/microsoft-live-blog-tablet-announcement/ . In the meantime Wacom has written on Dec 4 that its Bamboo Stylus feel series is compatible with the Micosoft Surface Pro Tablet. However that page which included this information - Bamboo Stylus for EMR Tablets | Wacom - does not list the Microsoft Surface Pro on Dec 10 (probably because the Microsoft Surface Pro Tablet is not yet officially launched?). We hope to have a Microsoft Surface Pro Tablet in our hands in January and be able to confirm details about stylus and digitizer juts in case anything has changed.

From our perspective: So far we did not yet come across any supplier truly matching Wacom's superior capturing technology especially when looking at the signals provided for automatic signature verification.

Another obesrvation: The Wacom component business seems to soar and a particular spike in the the share value is in late October - when Windows 8 was launched: Wacom Co., Ltd: TYO:6727 quotes & news - Google Finance

I think the data sheet of Lenovo Australia is a strong proof about being a Wacom.
    End of discussion.

Thank you all for your responses.
Now I'm more confident on TPT2 being Wacon (but not 100%). However, at least USA, UK, Germany and Spain sites have no reference to the digitizer brand (the state "optional").
