For public domain books - those out of copyright - the entire book is available. Here's an example :

    http://books.google.ca/books?ie=UTF-8&hl=en&id=2ojtCOq7hpAC&pg=PR1&printsec=2&lpg=PR1

As for my purchase, yes it's a slate. I couldn't afford more than $400US max, so I picked the best reviewed used tablet pc in that price range. It's four years old, but still more than powerful enough for my needs. If I truly like it I'll look at a newer tablet once I can afford it.

I don't understand your question. If you go to the link I posted, you will find an entire book. Use the arrows at the top to move from page to page. Some books will only show a few pages, but public domain ones show the whole book.

Google print and Google book search are the same thing.

Sorry, I know that it could be a silly question, but what is a "slate"? I was going to buy a Tablet PC for the same reason, and now after reading this, I'd like to buy so called "slate". Where can I buy it and where can I see some reviews? thanx.

a slate is a tablet without a keyboard. they are just computers that you write on. though they have no keyboard and no optical drive, they are lighter.
