    Now I am trying it.

First thing I can say is that when windows is starting the fan works at FULL power, I am sure you never heard it like I did if you do not have the new bios version. You can really say "the fan is loud".

But when you see your desktop, the system is silent again.

I still have to see how the fan reacts in the long term

thats when the pc starts up and it sounds like turning over an old ford pick up or something.i get that too. fairly normal, i think. Unfortunately i can never get a good temp reading from anything over than the hdd.that runs@ about 44 C.

so you are using the fan at "normal"? Because at "silent" it is silent in the beginning, too.

Which program do you use to measure the temperature?

i dont know if I have a choice to run it at silent. ive got the Fujitsu version of the T4210.

i use a program called speed fan. like i said before i havent been able to find any apps that can read from the mobo or CPU temp Sensor. Maybe P8rson can shed some light on this.

P8rson, what do you use for temp monitoring?

If I remember right, I can alter the fan setting just since bios 1.05.

I gave up trying to monitor anything but the hard drive accurately.
For the hard drive though I do recommend HDD Thermometer... See here for info and download.

Carter though is right... with the new release of BIOS 1.05 you can now flag the fan settings.... but I have not tested this out on a FUjitsu T4210 :)

Could you please tell me, how you know these changes? :)

The changelist I got says nothing about the fan.

Indeed the changlist mentions nothing of this but I am assured it is in the BIOS settings menu.
    As in:-
    current BIOS V1.05
    Solved problems:
    - Add extra wait for Beep failure at Suspend in order to increase timing margin
    - Added new LCD information
    - Add fix for DC-IN and charge ICON issue

    Known errors, problems and restrictions:
    - none
    Additional information:
    - The new intel bootlogo is implemented in this BIOS version

p8rson, you are far to happy to call FSC supp. =) the thing i like about fan speed is it keeps the temp of the hdd in the taskbar.i wonder if we non fsc people are going to get a bios update soon.

If you are looking for a smaller but equally as good taskbar hard drive temp, I can recommend HDDTemperature, see here.
It too keeps the temp in the taskbar, you can also configure it to show a balloon warning when temperatures go up/down.

As to the BIOS 1.05 update and Fujitsu, I've asked about this but am still waiting for an answer :)
