I've seen reference (including in this site's review) to some sort of heat-dampening, felt-like material on the bottom of the T4210. Am I getting that correctly?

I have sort of a funny tactile aversion to certain felt-like materials, and am wondering if there's anything other than straightforward metal/plastic down there.

Can someone with experience describe roughly what it's like?

It is a patch of suede that is about 2 x 2 inches. very soft and certainly not like felt at all.

It's literally strategically placed patches of material (felt I suppose, but if I remember correctly it feels more like suede), designed to insulate you (and your more sensitive areas ;-) ) from some of the heat.

EDIT: I must have been typing this response while Barry was submitting his, hehe.

Actually, on the UK spec ones, it is 4 pieces of suede, which in total cover a third of the underneath of the tablet.
Much, much more than on my other Fujitsu devices.

    And yes.... I like it.
The suede has always been one to show others... This makes it more a show-case :)

They've been doing this for years. My notebook is completely covered with it on the bottom.

Ohh I do agree with you Brian.
Both my other Fujitsu's have the suede in part covering.
Interestingly though, you mention yours has a complete covering ~ which model is this one?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but won't the suede act as an insulator and keep the heat inside the tablet/laptop?

Wonderful, thanks for all the answers. Doesn't sound irritating at all.
